Rudder Gust Lock

For Cessna 208 series

Aero Twin's Rudder Gust Lock

Factory-installed STANDARD EQUIPMENT
on all 1994 and later Caravans.

On older Caravans with no rudder lock, the rudder is free to beat against its stops, destroying the hinges. On pre-1994 Caravans with the original Cessna rudder pedal cable lock, the motion of the rudder loads the control system, stretching cables and damaging rudder hinges.

In 1988 Aero Twin developed a direct rudder engagement dead bolt type rudder lock installation. The lock holds the rudder securely centered without loading the cables or hinges. The lock has a fail safe attachment to the elevator, ensuring it is disengaged prior to take off. The mechanical system mounts neatly inside the tail stinger, with the control handle exposed.

Service history has indicated that Rudder Gust Lock assemblies with high time or cycles can wear, causing the handle to become loose. Click here for our repair kit to tighten the handle motion.
